The Exo Terra Heat Cable is intended to serve as a secondary heat source, not as a primary one. For optimal safety and performance, it should be used with the Zoo Med ReptiTemp Digital Infrared Thermometer to ensure desired temperature.
Under no circumstances should you cut or modify the Exo Terra Heat Cable. It is not suitable for use with aquariums or aquatic environments. You must not expose the plug to water or submerge the cable in water.
Do not permit the cable to overlap other strands of cable, and ensure that cable runs are spaced no less than 1 ¼” (3cm) apart. When plugging in this product, do not coil the cables together, as doing so may result in extreme overheating and potential fire.
If the cord, plug, or any other component of the unit is damaged, do not operate it. Discontinue use immediately if the cable shows any signs of damage. Do not attempt to alter or modify this product. If you are uncertain about the electrical connection, seek the assistance of an electrician.
Do not bury the cable in terrarium substrate or encapsulate it. This product is exclusively for use with glass terrariums and should not be used with terrariums constructed of plastic, wood, or other materials.
